False Positives…

Standard

As most of you know, this pregnancy has left me so ill I could barely get off the couch most days. For me that is pretty strange. I have had horrible heartburn with most of my pregnancies but never such horrible all day and night morning sickness. I finally decided this weekend to contact my midwife on Monday and ask for something to help with the sickness.

Monday morning came, I sent Hubs off to work and headed for the bathroom. Once there, I discovered that I was bleeding.. a lot. I started to panic, I couldn’t find my phone. Hubs walked back in the door, thank God! He had read the schedule wrong and had shown up for work three hours early!

I was told to head to the hospital immediately for an ultrasound. Once there, I got to wait for almost an hour before I was finally taken to the ultra sound room. The regular ultrasound showed nothing, so I got the joy of having an internal ultrasound for the first time. That ultra sound also showed nothing.. no baby. After a blood test I was diagnosed with a Molar Pregnancy.

A molar pregnancy happens when an egg with no genetic information is fertilized by a sperm. The sperm grows on its own, but it can only become a lump of tissue. It cannot become a fetus. As this tissue grows, it looks a bit like a cluster of grapes. This cluster of tissue is called a mole, and it can fill the uterus.

It can also turn into a disease called trophoblastic disease.

So this Friday morning I will be going in to have it surgically removed, and then I will be tested monthly for the next 6-12 months to make sure that it hasn’t turned into trophoblastic disease. If it does, then my chances of it becoming cancer become higher. Although I have been told that this type of cancer is almost 100% curable, it would require some medications and treatments I would much rather not subject my body to! Also, if the mass has grown into my uterine wall they will have to remove my uterus..

So there is a lot of information and medical stuff going through my head! I am worried and stressed… I feel totally out of control of what is going on… mostly the doctor doesn’t know all that is going on until he gets in there… so there are several unknowns which make it worse!

I will be spending the next few days going to several doctor appointments, getting blood work done etc, then I will be pretty much out of commission for the weekend. Hopefully I will be back on Monday and I will let you all know how we are doing! Thanks for all your prayers! It really means a lot to me!

Be Blessed…

"Dinkledoos" From GoGo Natural Review and Giveaway!! CLOSED!!!

Standard

GoGo Natural is a great cloth diapering website where you can find over 20 different cloth diaper and accessory brands. They carry everything from cloth diapers to Hooter Hiders, household cleaning products to baby slings, and diaper bags to sun and swim wear!

GoGo Natural sent me a DinkleDooz diaper to try out. I have to say that when I first pulled it out I just wasn’t too impressed. I mean it pretty much looks like just about every other cloth diaper out there.

But it really is a great and easy to use diaper! It is pretty absorbent, though not a night time solution diaper for us with the Fire Hydrant Super Soaker, but it does last a good two to three hours or throughout nap time without any leaks or red marks. It is very soft and comfy and the elastic does not pinch. I love that it comes with two thick microfiber inserts so I can add or take away absorbency as needed. It also fits from birth to potty training. Since it fits Putters with still an entire setting to go for rise and it’s still on the first snaps on the waist setting I think it will fit her beyond potty training. I tried it on her baby doll too and it snapped down small enough to fit her life size baby doll, so it should fit a newborn. Which is good news for us!! :O)

Lots of snaps and sizing options!

Rear shot!!

Side shot!!

Front Shot!!

These diapers are a great price too at less then $12 each. You can buy them in packages of 3 for around $33, 6 for around $65 and 12 for around $125. As with all diapers though I always suggest you buy ONE and try it before buying several! What works great for one baby does not always work great for another baby! When you spend $30 on your first order at GoGo Natural you can get a free Dinkledooz with your order with the code PARTY8.

You can also enter to win a Dinkledooz courtesy of GoGo Natural below!

THIS GIVEAWAY ENDS MONDAY MARCH 28th AT 4:00 P.M. PST!!

We Plan… God Laughs…

Standard

We never planned on having this many kids. I think 4 was about our number when we were dating. I always wanted two girls and two boys, and we already had one girl. So after Knight, then Clown and then Little Mama came along.. well, that just seemed like it was right. So we planned to not have any more.

So imagine my surprise when I found out Little Man was on his way despite the birth control I was on! He was the easiest baby imaginable though. Slept all the time, never fussed. He is still that way, at 7 years old, just kinda hangs out in the background until he has something to say. He’s always the first to give up a fight, but don’t dare try to sneak onions or Brussels sprouts onto his plate! Again that was it for us.. no more!!

I remember Hubs taking me away for a few days for my birthday a few months after Little Man was born, and being sick almost the entire time we were gone due to the migraine the birth control I was on gave me. That was an adventure! Our first night out, we got a room at a hotel, went out for dinner and came back to the entire police force in our hotel room, going through our belongings!! The hotel clerk forgot to check us in on the computer then went off shift. The next clerk tried to check another couple in only to find the room was occupied.. they thought someone had broken in! The next two days were spent in a haze in a different hotel throwing up in the ice bucket because the pain was so bad. Because of the headache and all the other side effects, I opted to try the Depo-Provera shot instead of pills. Then I was a week late getting the next shot due to being sick…and along came Juice Box.

I decided I was done with shots and pills and had an IUD inserted. A couple years later.. my IUD came out, and and 9 months after that along came the Putt Putt.. After that I pretty much gave up on birth control.. or should I say MY control. After reading this status that a friend posted on her FB page, I knew that GOD is in control.

“I’m not going to say to my commanding officer, “But, I don’t want any more arrows. Just 1 or 2 to take into battle with me. They’re too cumbersome & too hard to handle. I’ll take my chances & go into battle with just 1…Okay, commander? I think I really am the 1 who knows best in this situation. I know you are the superior officer. But, I just can’t let you have control on this one. I’m breaking ranks on this one.”

Children are a GIFT from the Lord; BABIES are a REWARD.CHILDREN who are born to a young man are LIKE ARROWS in the hand of a WARRIOR. HAPPY is the man who has his bag FULL of arrows. They WILL NOT be defeated when they FIGHT their ENEMIES at the city gate.
~ Psalm 127:3-10″

Is having this many children a hassle, especially since we home school!? Do I miss sleep? Are they expensive? Don’t I miss having ME time? Don’t I miss having TIME period? Well.. YES to all of that! But when I look at my kids.. I see that I don’t think I would be ME without any of them. When I think that one of them maybe wouldn’t be here because of my choice, I shudder. I am so glad that GOD knew more then we did what we NEEDED. I need my children.. every one of them!! I can’t imagine what life would be like without one of them here. Yes life is crazy, hectic and insane.. it’s also beautiful, with sloppy kisses and peanut butter hugs, and pictures all over the fridge (not to mention the walls…) and getting to hear my late reader discover he can read an entire sentence.. and BEING HERE to watch his face light up when he realizes that he can!

But I have to admit.. I really thought Putt Putt was the last… that was our plan… again… But it looks like I am going to have to change the name of this blog… Because sometime around October 10th of this year, we will no longer be a family of 8.. but one of 9!! So the reason I haven’t been online so much is the ALL DAY morning sickness I have been fighting my way through.. and the extreme tiredness! I feel I could sleep ALL day long.. I am so glad it’s Spring Break! So bear with me.. I will get online as much as I am able!

Be Blessed..

KaWaii Minky Review and Giveaway!! CLOSED!!

Standard

I was given the chance to review a KaWaii Cloth Diapering Solutions Minky Bamboo Diaper from the Mom Label Collection! I was sent the Oxford Grey Minky Bamboo diaper to test and review. I have to tell you, I was blown away by this diaper. I am still amazed that KaWaii offers such great products for such low prices! This Minky Bamboo diaper sells for less then $12!! It is super absorbent, fits really well, is SO soft, easy to use, and is not bulky at all. I love that it fits under Putter’s little blue jeans, she can wear it for several hours during the day, and it’s even passed her overnight testing without leakage. I have a hard time putting this diaper on her, only because I want to save it for trips out of the house, it is so soft and adorable that I know it will get comments!

Haven’t heard about KaWaii diapers before? Here is some info about the company and how they came to be:

“Luvyourbaby Products is located in beautiful BC, Canada.

Downtown Vancouver is on the edge of English BayBritish Columbia is Canada’s westernmost province and one of North America’s most mountainous regions. We are so lucky to have natural grasslands and lakes, hence, it is vital to take care of our environment as well as to take care of our kids.

KaWaii Baby Diaper started after I read an article about disposable diapers. I was shocked by this article that disposable taking as many as 500 years to decompose, and commonly contain raw, untreated sewage.

An additional concern is the risk that Dioxin, a by-product of the paper-bleaching process, may exist in disposables.

Widespread diaper rash is also a fairly wide phenomenon that comes along with disposable. Reasons for more rashes include allergies to chemicals, lack of air, higher temperatures because plastic retains body heat, and babies are probably changed less often because they feel dry when wet.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to customers’ satisfaction. We keep our overhead low and then pass on the savings to you. We are continually improving our products and our company to serve you better.

Thank you for taking the time to look at our products.”

KaWaii Snazzy Minky Diapers are out of stock until the end of this month, when they will be re-released in new prints, in the meantime you can order the KaWaii Mom Label Collection Bamboo diapers while you wait. I can’t wait to see the new prints!!

These diapers just continue to blow me away. They are absorbent, adorable, and affordable. I had a hard time believing that they were so great before trying them myself because most diapers this price just aren’t worth what you pay for them.

This is the second KaWaii diaper I have been blessed to review. The first one I reviewed was the KaWaii Goodnight Diaper, which is still one of my favorite night time solution diapers. It is slim, easy to use and has not leaked once on my super soaker toddler. I really just can’t think of anything I don’t like about these diapers. I have to say though.. get the snaps.. especially if you have a curious baby, who would just love to listen to the velcro as they open and close their diapers. Putter’s has figured out how to get her hook and loop diapers open even under her pants LOL. She just loves that sound.

So would you like to buy some KaWaii’s? Click here to visit the Luvyourbaby web page..

Or WIN one here.. LuvYourBaby has generously offered my readers the chance to win this Lime Green Sunflower print Kawaii diaper..

Where’ve I Been??

Standard

The last week and a half have been pretty crazy here. The apartment right outside my parents back door came open and while it is only a two bedroom, it gives us a little more space, and a quiet place to do schoolwork. So I spent a few days trying to figure out what we needed in here and what we could leave in storage, and trying to cram what we need into this tiny apartment. The girls have their own room here and the boys head over to my parents to sleep after dinner. For now it’s working…We are still on the search for a house.

Then along came the worst cold I think I have ever had. I am still fighting it, now it’s in my chest. It was a head cold for days, horrible headache, sore throat, fever. I feel much better now, but it’s in my chest now, causing an annoying cough and my asthma to act up. Plus all the kids got it.. so it’s been pretty miserable, and I mostly spent the week on the couch huddled under a blanket when not directing school work or washing the dishes.

Then we had no internet. We ran a line from my parents so that we would have internet access, it didn’t work. After running a new line, and playing with settings and all that my mom, and personal computer guru, figured out it was the ONE cable we never checked. Isn’t that always the case? LOL..

Next was the tsunami warnings that went off at 4:30 A.M. and went for hours. Thanks to the internet, we knew we were not in imminent danger though we are in the tsunami zone. We knew that nothing would actually hit here, if it did hit, until at least 7:15 a.m. which left us plenty of time to gather diapers, and clothes and a box of food items. Then we went up the hill and sat at the grocery store for an hour before the local sheriff gave the all clear. After that we all came home and slept most of the day! I was so glad it was Hubs day off. We were able to tag team naps. Later that day, Mom got the internet up and going.

I took a couple more days to rest and get better, and here I am..

Be Blessed..
