Bubble & Bee Organics Review And Gift Certificate Giveaway!! CLOSED!

Standard

I found a new love… all natural and organic bath and body care from Bubble and Bee Organic! I was sent the wonderful smelling, Raspberry and Vanilla Body Butter, the Coconut and Lime Lotion Bar and the Orange Lip Balm to try. I have to tell you that I LOVE these scents. The body butter is so rich and thick and creamy, yet you need so little to go a long way! It leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth, and smells yummy enough to eat! The Lotion Bar is like a big chapstick that you just roll on wherever or whenever needed, yet small enough to fit in any purse or diaper bag! And the Orange lip balm is super moisturizing, yet not slimy. For me most lip balms feel or taste like wax, and this does not at all! You can taste, and definitely smell the orange in it though! It’s wonderful! The girls and I fight over the use of these products!

I just now discovered that Bubble and Bee also sells all natural, organic Pit Putty! My definite next must try!

I recently won a scholarship for a class about infertility.. not that I have a problem with that.. but I signed up to win it because this class covers way more then just that! It teaches you what ingredients are really bad for you, and why they are bad for you! I will be writing some more posts about this class in the future, but for now, one of the lessons was on your daily products, and the things that are in them that cause infertility, cancer and more! Deodorant and it’s ingredients like parabens and aluminum, were at the top of that list!! With a mom and grandma and a great grandma who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer.. those ingredients just are NOT for me!

Here is some background info on how Bubble and Bee came to be!

The Bubble and Bee Story

STEPHStephanie Greenwood, now in her early 30s, began working in a Biology lab at 14, and started taking advanced Chemistry classes at the University of Utah at 16. But it wasn’t until she was 26 that she learned that the thousands of chemicals around her in personal care products like parabens, phthalates, and artificial fragrance could be causing some of her health problems, like hormonal imbalances and asthma. She diligently sought safer alternatives, but none of them lived up to her standards of purity. She found out that many products had hidden ingredients. So, she decided to make her own products using simple, organic ingredients.

It was slow-going at first. She drew upon her own chemistry background and tested the recipes she had come accross. A lot of the formulas out there didn’t work very well, some with terrible results. (She still remembers the conditioner that didn’t rinse out for a week!) By reading labels on her favorite organic products, taking a little bit here and there from recipes that did work, she got a good start. She enlisted the help of a chemist friend in California to help her refine her formulas, and soon she had a vast repertoire of her own products. Her friends and family caught wind of her experimenting and asked her to share her discoveries. Soon she was making soaps, shampoos, lip balms and deodorants for the entire family. They absolutely loved her products, and she realized that this could be a bigger endeavor than she had ever thought.

productsgreenA year and a half later she enlisted the help of her long-time friend and business partner, Stevie “B.” Steve took some convincing–he had never used organic anything before! She persisted and it paid off. With much deliberation and creative planning, Bubble & Bee Organic was born. Bringing his business marketing and product design prowess to the table, Steve was able to make dynamic packaging for Stephanie’s products. “I really wanted these products to be fun. I was hooked the first time I made my own deodorant. I knew exactly what was in it. How cool.” They soon grew the business from a simple table at a farmer’s market to a company that’s created much “buzz” and is poised to gain the attention of the media and sell organic goodies to people all around the country. They launched bubbleandbee.com where you can now learn about organic products and buy the finest quality organic personal care products. But Stephanie and Steve’s mission is more than just selling their products. Their goal is to inform others about the importance of staying away from the dangerous chemicals in our world of fancy products with entrancing colors and fragrances. In addition to making and selling products, their goal is to inform people of the hazards of Chemicals in Personal Care Products. Their Chemical of the Day Blog is designed to give accurate and concise information that people are looking for regarding cosmetic chemicals. They believe that organic products shouldn’t be just for those who can afford them, but for everyone who wants to live in a safer, more natural world. They strive to offer reasonable prices and approachable products. That’s why at Bubble and Bee Organic, we say “We Make Organic Fun!”

Tough Morning.. and then some!!

Standard

I woke up this morning to the sun shining though it was supposed to rain, the kids in a great mood, and thought, it’s going to be a great day! Was I wrong!!

We got news that Hubs great grandma passed away… she was a dear lady. I only got to meet her once, before we were married.. a looooong time ago! Here she is having her favorite breakfast!

She was a great lady.. and a spit fire to the end! Apparently one of her last wishes was for an ice cold beer! :O) She loved her baseball and ice cold beer..

Then I got news that this precious baby, 4 month old Kirra, one of my best friends grand babies fell and hit her head, and fractured her skull. She is in the hospital with hemorraging in her brain!

So it’s been a pretty tough morning around here! Please pray for these families and my family!! Thanks!

Be Blessed..

Baby Frills Review and Coupon Code!!

Standard

Just before Christmas I was sent this beautiful penguin shirt and adorable leg warmers from Baby Frills!
The applique on the shirt is very well put on, Putters has worn this at least twice a week since we got it, so lots of washes, and it shows almost no wear! It washes easily and even though it’s white, I have not had a stain issue. The leg warmers are super soft and adorable in the snowflake pattern! Putter’s has been rebelling the use of leg warmers lately but these are too cute so I torture her and make her wear them! Here is a picture where I paired the shirt with a Tiny Toes Creations tutu, but she pulled the leg warmers off before I could get a pic!

I have to find some more spring like prints soon though! :O) Here are some other things Baby Frills makes and sells.. Aren’t these adorable? And her prices are really outstanding!!

This is how Baby Frills got started:

“I am a mom of four young children and I love baby items. One day my daughter walked in and asked me if I was making more “scruffles.” Of course she was asking about ruffles, but she gave me the idea to share the “scruffle” love she has, and the baby love I have. I hope you enjoy each of these items as much as I do. For pricing information or custom orders, please contact me at babyfrills@gmx.com.

Baby Frills is offering all my readers a FREE hair accessory with any order for the next 7 days, if you put the code Misadventures8 in the notes section, with your email address so she can contact you to see what hair accessory you would like! This coupon code ends 2/5/11!!

So go find something totally adorable you just have to have!!

Be Blessed..

"Sweet Nighty Night" Forward Thinking Bamboo Night Time Diaper Review!!

Standard

Cheryl over at Forward Thinking was a huge help to me in December! When Putter’s outgrew half her diapers, and we couldn’t afford more, she exchanged us for several of her adorable diapers! Along with those diapers she sent me for review her newest addition to her diaper family! Introducing the Forward Thinking Night Time Bamboo Diaper!

When I first got the package, I thought Cheryl had forgotten the bamboo diaper! It looks the same as the others! The only way I could tell it was different was that it had no print! If you look closely it is actually the SAME size, and even a little smaller then her other diapers! It stretches out to be the same size as the others though, and fits just like they do. This night time diaper is SO TRIM it’s unbelievable! So my next thought was of course, NO WAY will this hold all night! And boy was I wrong!! I put it to the test in the day time first… and after three hours of soaking, Putters finally let me know she needed a change. But it wasn’t even soaked! So after a washing, I put it on her at night. While cringing.. cause I thought for sure it was gonna leak, or she would be awake at 2 AM wanting a diaper change! Putter’s HATES to be wet at night! Not that I blame her.. but I would much rather sleep then change diapers in the middle of the night, call me crazy! I paired it with my Nifty Nappy wool cover, cause I don’t have a Forward Thinking wool cover, and no way was I trying it with a regular PUL cover! And in the morning was amazed that I had gotten to sleep all night! I got Putters out of bed, and her jammies were DRY!! Oh my! It worked!! The next time I put her to bed with a regular PUL cover from Forward Thinking, and though the edges of the cover were a little damp, it didn’t leak! On my next post, I will try to get pictures of Putt Putt wearing the diaper!

Be Blessed..

"True Treasures" From Eternal Encouragement Review

Standard

Here is my first review for TheGabbyMoms.com!! Grab a cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa, or a soda pop and settle in for a great chat!!

I opened an ordinary mailing package the other day to reveal a very unordinary treasure! True Treasures is a “treasure trove” of encouraging, uplifting, oftentimes hilarious real life experiences from moms JUST like us! They struggle too through math and science, getting dinner on the table, and being the homemaker, home schooler, wife and mother they were ordained by God to be!

From the opening lines of this book I was hooked! “Each day when I wake up I greet the Lord and ask what He has for me today.” It made me wonder… how many days do I wake up to kids already arguing, and fall into bed that night, utterly exhausted, and never stop to ask myself that question! Almost every day! How much easier would my day be, if I took the time to ask that question and think and pray about it before I got out of bed?!

My kids are fascinated with sea glass right now! I struggle with feeling like I don’t do enough to contribute to our home by staying home and homeschooling. We have a child who is definitely departing from the way she should go. My children squabble all the time it seems. They sometimes whine until I feel like screaming!! Hubs and I struggle in our marriage. And there was an article for every one of those issues in this book! By the time I was done with it, I no longer felt alone in my struggles. I felt like there was an entire support group holding me up, and helping me along! It was amazing! It felt like a dear, close friend who knew everything about me had written me a long loving letter about everything I struggle with daily! This is definitely a book that will be treasured in my home!

There are articles about how God polishes us like sea glass. Tossing us in our rough waves until we are smooth and rounded and shaped like Him. Now my kids are even MORE intrigued with sea glass! Articles about being content as a stay-at-home- mom and not allowing Satan to let you feel like you are not contributing enough! Articles about our children departing from the path they should follow, and encouragement for those of us who are feeling the pain of a child gone astray. I love the article about the 7 Squabble Stopping Steps, and can’t wait to see the look on my boy’s faces when I tie them together with pretty hair ribbons! And my children BETTER be on the lookout the next time I catch them whining!

I also can’t wait to try some of the great ideas for strengthening my marriage out. I see through reading a couple of these articles that in trying to “do it all” I have seriously neglected to do some of the most important things. I neglect to encourage my husband. I neglect to give him the lead when it comes to OUR home school. I tend to put up a “TRESSPASSERS WILL BE SHOT” sign! Only I know how to do the dishes right, or that load of whites correctly, and DON’T YOU DARE TEACH THAT BOY TO ADD LIKE YOU DO!” Then when he doesn’t help, what do I do? I get angry and hurt! And I feel like I am doing this all alone! These articles really opened my eyes to way I treat my this man, this gift that God gave to me!

One article showed me how in being a people pleaser, I am really damaging my marriage! When hubs asks for my input I too often say, “Whatever YOU want Honey.” I don’t know if that is laziness on my part, a desire to not get into an argument, or if I just try to please him by giving him total control, but that article showed me that what he really needs is for me to tell him my opinion! Then here is the hard part… give the decision of whether or not he will listen to my opinion to him!! Without getting angry if he doesn’t take my advice!
When our hubby’s approach us with an idea, they are looking for our wisdom and our wit to sharpen that idea with! When we just passively answer, “Whatever you want,” we are a blunt tool that no one can work with! How frustrating for our guys!

From one article to the next in this 101 page treasure chest, I found gem after precious gem! This is definitely a must have book for moms, home schoolers, homemakers, and wives! Every page is filled with encouragement, wit, grace, and love!

“True Treasures is divided into 6 sections, each one full of inspiring ideas, wisdom from the hearts of women, and encouragement to help you be a better wife, mother, and homemaker.
• Jewels That Make the Heart Sparkle
• Marriages Made of Solid Gold
• Parenting Pearls: Practical and Priceless
• Homemaking That Dazzles Like Diamonds
• Homeschooling Nuggets of Wisdom
• Godly Living That Glitters”

You can purchase True Treasures at www.HomemakingWithTEACH.com and you can get $4 off with this coupon code: GabbyMom!! Grab one for a friend at that price!

Enjoy!

Brynn’s Beautiful Bows WINNER!!

Standard

I was outside today enjoying the amazingly warm sunshine! There has always been a joke around here that the end of January, the beginning of February are our warmest and most beautiful times of year! And the weather lately is again proving that to be true! On our walk today it was actually too warm for sweatshirts, and I actually went barefoot most of the way! My reluctance to come inside is why this giveaway is closing late! Putters and I were out in the yard playing with a giant yoga ball!

The day started out great, then Math time hit.. and hit hard! Three kids were very uncooperative in that subject today. When they finally finished, I put Putter’s down for her nap and disappeared to take a hot bubble bath! Yeah, that bad of a math time!! LOL.. after that, Putter’s woke up and we headed out! Hubs is making dinner.. creamy tomato soup, so the day is ending much better now!

All that aside.. Random.org is blessing out of 85 entries, number 45, with a beautiful, sure to make you smile at least a little bit at that time of month, Mama Cloth!
