I found a new love… all natural and organic bath and body care from Bubble and Bee Organic! I was sent the wonderful smelling, Raspberry and Vanilla Body Butter, the Coconut and Lime Lotion Bar and the Orange Lip Balm to try. I have to tell you that I LOVE these scents. The body butter is so rich and thick and creamy, yet you need so little to go a long way! It leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth, and smells yummy enough to eat! The Lotion Bar is like a big chapstick that you just roll on wherever or whenever needed, yet small enough to fit in any purse or diaper bag! And the Orange lip balm is super moisturizing, yet not slimy. For me most lip balms feel or taste like wax, and this does not at all! You can taste, and definitely smell the orange in it though! It’s wonderful! The girls and I fight over the use of these products!
I just now discovered that Bubble and Bee also sells all natural, organic Pit Putty! My definite next must try!
I recently won a scholarship for a class about infertility.. not that I have a problem with that.. but I signed up to win it because this class covers way more then just that! It teaches you what ingredients are really bad for you, and why they are bad for you! I will be writing some more posts about this class in the future, but for now, one of the lessons was on your daily products, and the things that are in them that cause infertility, cancer and more! Deodorant and it’s ingredients like parabens and aluminum, were at the top of that list!! With a mom and grandma and a great grandma who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer.. those ingredients just are NOT for me!
Here is some background info on how Bubble and Bee came to be!
The Bubble and Bee Story
Stephanie Greenwood, now in her early 30s, began working in a Biology lab at 14, and started taking advanced Chemistry classes at the University of Utah at 16. But it wasn’t until she was 26 that she learned that the thousands of chemicals around her in personal care products like parabens, phthalates, and artificial fragrance could be causing some of her health problems, like hormonal imbalances and asthma. She diligently sought safer alternatives, but none of them lived up to her standards of purity. She found out that many products had hidden ingredients. So, she decided to make her own products using simple, organic ingredients.
It was slow-going at first. She drew upon her own chemistry background and tested the recipes she had come accross. A lot of the formulas out there didn’t work very well, some with terrible results. (She still remembers the conditioner that didn’t rinse out for a week!) By reading labels on her favorite organic products, taking a little bit here and there from recipes that did work, she got a good start. She enlisted the help of a chemist friend in California to help her refine her formulas, and soon she had a vast repertoire of her own products. Her friends and family caught wind of her experimenting and asked her to share her discoveries. Soon she was making soaps, shampoos, lip balms and deodorants for the entire family. They absolutely loved her products, and she realized that this could be a bigger endeavor than she had ever thought.
A year and a half later she enlisted the help of her long-time friend and business partner, Stevie “B.” Steve took some convincing–he had never used organic anything before! She persisted and it paid off. With much deliberation and creative planning, Bubble & Bee Organic was born. Bringing his business marketing and product design prowess to the table, Steve was able to make dynamic packaging for Stephanie’s products. “I really wanted these products to be fun. I was hooked the first time I made my own deodorant. I knew exactly what was in it. How cool.” They soon grew the business from a simple table at a farmer’s market to a company that’s created much “buzz” and is poised to gain the attention of the media and sell organic goodies to people all around the country. They launched bubbleandbee.com where you can now learn about organic products and buy the finest quality organic personal care products. But Stephanie and Steve’s mission is more than just selling their products. Their goal is to inform others about the importance of staying away from the dangerous chemicals in our world of fancy products with entrancing colors and fragrances. In addition to making and selling products, their goal is to inform people of the hazards of Chemicals in Personal Care Products. Their Chemical of the Day Blog is designed to give accurate and concise information that people are looking for regarding cosmetic chemicals. They believe that organic products shouldn’t be just for those who can afford them, but for everyone who wants to live in a safer, more natural world. They strive to offer reasonable prices and approachable products. That’s why at Bubble and Bee Organic, we say “We Make Organic Fun!”
